All new and returning competitors are invited to take part in an event which always promises to showcase some of the best and upcoming talent in Sambo, Grappling, Wrestling, NoGi, and JiuJitsu, from across the UK!
All competitive bouts between entrants will be matched according to weight category entered, age, and previous / current level of experience if known / stated.

9:00 - 10:00 approx. Competitors sign in at the welcome area and proceed to weigh-ins
Spectators can also enter the venue and will need to purchase an event wristband in order to enter the event spectator area.

International SAMBO rules (Sport SAMBO)
“…A victory may be granted: a) ahead of time (total victory); b) as the bout full time is over.
Article 28. Total victory (ahead-of-time victory)
28.1. Total victory shall be awarded:
a) for a perfect (total) throw — a throw without the attacker’s falling, which is followed by the defender’s falling from the standing position on his back (or falling into the ‘bridge’ position) or rolling on his back rapidly (without stopping);
b) in case of a ‘give up’ signal during a painful hold or hold-down;
c) in case of an 8 or more-point advantage of one of the athletes (if during the bout one of the athletes gains 8 (or more) points more than the opponent);
d) in case the opponent withdraws from the bout;
e) in case of the opponent’s withdrawal from the competition;
f) in case of the opponent’s disqualification…”

Common FAQ
How do I enter the event?
Select the correct competitor entry at the bottom of this page and click Buy Now. Follow the instructions on the booking page, ENSURING YOU ALSO COMPLETE THE HYBRID ENTRY FORM; and pay to secure your place. You should receive a confirmation email to acknowledge successful registration to the event.
What is the competition ruleset?
This competition will be officiated in accordance with the official FIAS Sport Sambo ruleset, with the exception of no submission holds will be allowed for those aged under 12.
International SAMBO rules (Sport SAMBO)
Do I need to have all my own kit to participate?
Any rashguard/ tight fitting T-Shirt and shorts are acceptable. Leggings/spats are permitted, sambo boots or barefoot permitted.
We would also recommend that participants bring and use a gumshield and/or groin guard which is appropriate for combat sports.

What are the categories?
Junior competitor weight categories will be matched on the day based on information provided and weigh-in weights. Juniors are most commonly matched by age then weight, however under special circumstances this may change.
Adult competitor weight categories will be as per standard Sambo competition weight categories:
Male: 58kg, 64kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, -98kg, +98kg
Female: 50kg, 59kg, 54kg, 65kg, 72kg, -80kg, +80kg
Weights may be merged into smaller categories.
What facilities are there at the venue?
There are separate male and female changing areas for juniors and adults.
Items left in the changing rooms are done so at the owner’s risk.
The venue has male and female bathroom facilities for students, spectators, and staff.
There is a seating/standing viewing area available for parents, partners or friends, of participants.
Will there be refreshments at the venue?
There will be a selection of hot and cold refreshments available for purchase inside the venue.
Is card/cash accepted at the venue?
We accept cash and card/contactless payments.
Is there parking at the venue?
The venue has its own allocated parking, however there is street parking directly outside the venue, and street parking on several side streets in case we reach full capacity.
Is the location accessible by public transport and near hotel accommodation?
The venue is located within a 15 mins drive from Doncaster train/bus interchange. If you’re travelling to Doncaster for the event, there are several hotels within a short taxi drive to the venue.
Are refunds accepted?
Once a participant has paid for their entry, we won’t issue refunds in case of cancellation or non-attendance.

About Doncaster Sambo & Wrestling
Doncaster Sambo & Wrestling is a local, family-friendly mixed martial arts gym, for adults, teenagers, and infants. Our gym is the only place in South Yorkshire where classes are taught in Sport Sambo, Combat Sambo, and Wrestling. Our other classes include NoGi, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Padwork, and Open Mat access. We offer group classes, as well as 1-1 training.
About the event officials and staff
The event’s main officials are accredited National Masters of Sport by the British Sambo Federation - the UK governing body for the sport of Sambo. Supporting event officials and staff will be present on the day to ensure competitors, coaches, and spectators enjoy the event and ensure it runs as smooth as possible.
To ensure the safety of all involved, the event operates a strict zero tolerance for the use of alcohol and drugs. Any person(s) found to be in violation of this will be immediately asked to leave the venue. Any verbal/physical abuse towards event staff, spectators, or competitors will be dealt with by the event management team swiftly and the appropriate action taken.

We invite you to take part in the Combat Sambo Belt Grading on August 2nd in Doncaster, an important opportunity to advance your training and progress to your next belt. This event will be assessed by National Combat Sambo coaches, who bring a wealth of expertise to provide valuable feedback on your techniques, performance, and overall development.
Whether you’re aiming for your first belt or advancing to a higher rank, this grading offers a structured and professional environment to assess your skills and commitment to the sport. This is an ideal moment to gauge your growth and receive expert guidance as you continue your Combat Sambo journey.

The only place to be assessed for your Combat Sambo Grades by the National Combat Sambo Coach.
Certificates and coloured belt tags will be included free of charge in addition to your grade being included on the BSF Grading register.

THIS IS THE FIRST BRITISH COMBAT SAMBO CHAMPIONSHIPS BEING HELD FOR JUNIORS.
This competition will be held to full Combat Sambo rules for adults and Combat Sambo Light rules for Juniors removing ALL strikes to the head are removed for JUNIORS and removing Elbows and Headbutts completely. Other than that, FIAS Combat Sambo rules will be followed.
No submission holds will be allowed for those aged under 12.

Doncaster Combat Camp 2024
Doncaster Sambo and Wrestling’s Annual Combat Camp!
A weekend of Combat Sambo training under National Combat Sambo coaches and Team GB Competitors dedicated to helping you develop your Combat Sambo skills and tactical understand of the rules!
This is a great opportunity to grow your abilities and prepare yourself for entry level or even National class Combat Sambo competition. A wealth of competitive experience can be found in this gym, no questions off limits. All the help we can provide you to find your best self we will!
A full schedule will be announced before the weekend starts.

The Yorkshire Combat Sambo Light Open Championships for Adults and Juniors contested to Combat Sambo Light rules
Medals to be won for Podium places. This is an entry level competition, British Combat Sambo (full combat sambo) gold medalists need not apply.
