British Combat Sambo Championships 2025

Here are 10 reasons why we believe this event is not to be missed by potential participants, and people interested in spectating on the day!

1: Showcasing some of the best British talent on offer

With participants coming from all around the UK, and with many different levels of experience, the competition promises to be a fantastic display of adult and junior Combat Sambo matches, with many returning athletes, and new athletes, who will step onto the competition mat for the very first time.

2: Equal opportunities for all

Whether male or female, junior or adult, the event offers athletes from all around the UK an opportunity to step onto the mat and have their moment to compete in a fair but highly competitive environment.

3: Competition awards ceremony

The event is a celebration of all athletes involved, and recognition of their dedication to practising the sport and progressing towards their personal goals. That is why there are podium places up for grabs for each of the weight categories, along with awards for the best matches of the day, based on the sportsmanship, effort, and quality of Sambo displayed.

4: Locally organised with professional standards

Athletes can only participate if they have pre-purchased their event entry via the club registration form on the Doncaster Sambo & Wrestling website. All athletes and spectators must arrive via the main entrance to the venue, and sign in as a competitor at the welcome station, or purchase a spectator band. All entrants to the venue will be given a band of a different colour, depending on whether they are staff, competitors, or spectators.

All match officials will be officiating the event and matches in accordance with FIAS rules and regulations for Combat Sambo.

5: Underpinned by key shared values

The event values reflect those of the FIAS Code of Ethics and aims to promote all of the FIAS core values on the day, in particular, mutual respect, fair play, honesty, and integrity by all athletes and spectators.

6: Family-friendly event

We pride ourselves on knowing that the events we facilitate and host are appropriate for all ages, and welcome families with babies and young children (as we can appreciate and understand trying to balance childcare with a family member also competing!)

7: Hot and cold refreshments available

A selection of hot and cold drinks, including tea, coffee, water, cans of pop, and snacks such as fruit, pastries, buns, hotdogs, and more, will be available to purchase inside the venue.

8: Event kit/merchandise stall

There will be a kit stand with combat sambo uniform and accessories for sale, in both adult and junior sizes, along with other items of interest.

9: Live streaming of event matches

The event day will be live streamed on our YouTube channel, so that family and friends who can’t make the event can watch all the action from wherever they are.

10: Bringing the Sambo sport community together

As both combat and sport sambo continue to increase in popularity up and down the UK, it is a well earned achievement to celebrate the success of all competitors, and to help reach even more adults and juniors, regardless of background and experience to give the sport of Sambo a go!
